Follow Up to Racist Radio

So you’ve heard about the ridiculously racist and predictable comments made by WYSL about Congressional candidate Nate Shinagawa.

However, the station is standing behind Bob Savage and Bill Nojay. In fact,  Bob Savage, the WYSL President and CEO, issued a snarky statement:

For the record:  WYSL categorically denies having broadcast anything racist, hateful or discriminatory regarding Mr. Shinagawa or his candidacy.  It didn’t happen.  Period.

For the record: WYSL can categorically deny broadcasting anything racist, hateful or discriminatory regarding Mr. Shinagawa or his candidacy. But it happened. Period. 

Predictably, shrill, over-the-top complaints in the form of truly abusive phone calls and web postings have been conclusively linked to a left-wing political group which is financially backing Mr. Shinagawa.  The anti-Nojay campaign is merely political theater staged to raise campaign money from sympathetic progressives and Democrats.

Classic. Playing the poor, bullied victim. You can read the full statement here, where Savage also compares himself to Rush Limbaugh (Sandra Fluke is a slut! She is addicted to sex! etc). There’s just so much wrong with this, from the ignorance and refusal to apologize for blatant racism to incorrect statements about Shinagawa’s campaign funding (98% from individual small donations).

Bob Savage and the Republican candidate, Tom Reed, stand together in their bigotry.
